Time to get out the mistletoe and transform your home into a warm, welcoming home for the holidays. “In the midst of our busy lives, there are a few ways that you can infuse touches that don’t take much time but make a big difference with holiday decorations,” says our Founder, Boston interior designer Tiffany LeBlanc.
One of our key senses is the sense of smell, it’s very powerful. Natural greenery, aromatic and fresh, draped over your fireplace or on wide windowsills is the harbinger of the holiday season. Certain scents evoke grand memories of childhood and especially during the holidays. It’s easy to boil up a simple spiced sachet of cinnamon sticks and cloves and immediately fill your kitchen with festive spirit. You can also engage your kids with holiday decorating by creating orange and clove pomander balls. On a snow day, they will love sticking cloves into oranges that can then be used as holiday decorations exuding a fragrant holiday aroma.
You can create your own wreath, or compliment a prepared one by using a beautiful silk ribbon in varied hues or a bronze-tinted ombre for a contemporary look. Keep the decor simple — greens with pinecones or a touch of bright gold or silver for additional interest.
Decorating the family tree is always one of the essential rituals of the holidays and my favorite holiday decorating tip. Be sure to set aside a special time to do this so that it gets the attention it deserves. Maybe your children have some new ornaments to add this year. Seeing their hand-crafted decorations from years past reminds us of how fleeting these precious moments can be. Keep reminding yourself of this and remember to relax and enjoy the holidays with family and friends. Nothing is forever, and the holidays are a great time to appreciate and seize the moment!
Happy Holidays from Tiffany and the LeBlanc Design Team.
